The Transforming Power of Forgiveness
02 January 2012 / Discipleship Related Material, eBooks
Forgiveness is an important theme in the Bible. We are called to forgive as the Lord forgave us. But, when is the right moment to forgive? Should we forgive if the offender is not repentant? If we forgive too soon, aren’t we promoting unrighteousness? If we keep on forgiving, the offender keeps on offending. Doesn’t forgiveness conflict with justice? Should we tell the offender that we have forgiven him/her? Is forgiveness the beginning or the end of a restauration process? What happens if we just can’t forgive? These and other matters are addressed Biblically in this short book. Read more

Christian Symbols
11 October 2006 / Church Related Material, eBooks
A symbol is a tangible thing or a physical procedure that has been chosen to represent something else. In the Old Testament we find many symbols. Christian symbols are those symbols or symbolic acts which were practiced by the early church, be it privately or collectively. Most Christian communities practice the Lord’s Supper and Baptism. But in the New Testament we find references to other possible Christian symbols: the covering and uncovering of the head, the kneeling to pray, fasting, raising hands in prayer, laying on of hands, the use of oil, washing of feet, abstention from eating blood, the holy kiss, and more. Are these simply cultural expressions? Could they be understood as “non-verbal language” which should be translated into each culture? Are we free to ignore them? This is an exploratory study. Should I be Baptized?
11 October 2006 / Discipleship Related Material, eBooks
Unfortunatelly, in some sectors of Christianity, the simple act of Baptism has been a controversial topic. This book, co-authored with Carlos Villamil, presents Biblical teaching on Baptism in a simple and straghtforward way. It has been written in Spanish for a Latin-American readership - a culture influenced by supersticions with a strong Roman Catholic tradition. Its objective is to encourage the new Christian to seek to be baptized. ECS Ministries have published it as an Emmaus Correspondence Bible course.

Working Abroad - Today’s Tentmaking Challenge

Secular employment abroad presents an interesting challenge to the missionary minded Christian. Such a move may open doors which are closed to normal missionaries. Some refer to this kind of christian service as “tentmaking”, borrowing the name from the apostle Paul’s occasional tentmaking ocupation. This book explores the dangers and opportunities of a tentmaking lifestyle.
